3D 2N BELUM RAINFOREST RESORT, BELUM-TEMMENGOR PERAK, MALAYSIA
Belum Rainforest Resort is set on Pulau Banding in Tasik Temenggor where both were formed when the Temenggor Hydro Electricity Dam was completed in 1978. The dammed waters of the Perak River, Temenggor River, and their many tributaries drowned more than 150 square kilometres of forested land making Temenggor Lake the second largest manmade lake in Malaysia. And naturally, within this still deep water many species of fish like toman, sebarau and kelah can be found. Belum-Temmengor rainforest is basically divided into two i.e. upper, bordering Thailand, Royal Belum State Park which is pristine, and lower, Temenggor Forest Reserve where logging activities are still being carried out. Banding Island is in Temenggor Forest Reserve and can be reached by land vehicles due to its bridge that unites the East-West Highway - nearest towns are Gerik in Perak and Jeli in Kelantan. Belum-Temmengor's lush wilderness contains many species of fauna and flora such as the Rafflesia, rare orchids, hornbills, gibbons, elephants and etc. It is also home to the Jahai and Temiar indigenous tribes.
